Accessories checklist: measurements, fasteners and small details

Check belt lengths, hat sizes, glasses dimensions and jewellery fasteners before ordering. Use close-up photos to compare the details that matter.

Small accessories are easy to compare by appearance, but measurements and fasteners can decide whether they are useful to you. Check these details before choosing a product.

Check the details for your accessory

ProductWhat to confirm
BeltLength, width, hole positions and buckle attachment
HatSize, adjustment method and material information
GlassesFrame measurements, included parts and lens information
JewelleryDimensions, clasp, chain length and stated material

Confirm how the seller measures the item. A label or logo photo does not verify material composition, authenticity or protective performance.

Belt measurements: check where the numbers start

The total belt length and the distance to a usable fastening hole answer different questions. Ask whether the seller includes the buckle in the measurement, and which hole corresponds to the stated size. Measure a belt you use comfortably from the same starting point.

In a hypothetical example, an existing belt measures 90 cm from the pin to your usual hole, while a listing says “100 cm total length.” Those numbers cannot tell you whether it will fit. Confirm the distance to the holes and the adjustment range. Also check the width against the belt loops on the trousers you plan to wear.

Hat, chain and frame checks

For a cap, confirm whether it is adjustable or fixed-size and how the stated size is measured. An adjustable strap still has a usable range. For jewellery, separate chain length from pendant dimensions; a large close-up can make a small pendant appear much bigger than it is.

For glasses, compare the stated lens width, bridge width and temple length with a pair that fits. Decorative appearance does not confirm lens properties. Do not infer UV protection or prescription compatibility from a tint or a logo; those need specific product information.

Ask for clear views

Look for close-ups of buckles, clasps, hinges and attachment points. Compare the photos for your selected option, rather than relying on an image of another colour or model.

When your item reaches the warehouse, check the model, included parts and visible condition. If a small detail is blurred or hidden, request another angle before deciding. The warehouse photo guide explains extra images and inspection limits.

Small parts need focused photos

AccessoryDetail worth seeing clearly
BeltBuckle pin, hole positions and buckle attachment
CapAdjustment closure and inside size information
NecklaceClasp, joining rings and pendant attachment
GlassesHinges, temple ends and included case or parts

A group photo can confirm that several parts are present while still hiding their condition. If a clasp or hinge decides whether you will keep the item, ask for a clear close-up with enough surrounding area to identify it. Confirm whether the requested view or function check is available.

Treat material claims separately

A metallic finish does not establish the metal composition, and a stamp alone is not independent verification. If a material is important because of skin sensitivity or intended use, seek reliable composition information before ordering. A warehouse photo cannot resolve that question by itself.

Save the selected option and list of included parts. If a removable piece, case or fastener is missing on arrival at the warehouse, describe exactly what the listing showed and ask for clarification. Use the return guide if the difference cannot be resolved. Small size should not be a reason to skip this decision before shipping.

Check electronics separately

Watches, headphones and powered accessories need exact model and function information. Use the electronics checklist for those products; a photo of an unopened box is not a function test.
