T-shirt print checklist: design, placement and edges

Compare a T-shirt’s front and back design, print placement, edge clarity and collar before ordering. Check measurements separately from the size label.

When comparing graphic T-shirts, check that the design and its position match the version you want. A small product photo can hide a cropped design, unclear edges or a different back print.

Confirm the exact design

Look at the front and back photos for the selected colour. Compare lettering, graphic layout and the position relative to the collar and seams. If the gallery mixes several versions, confirm which one belongs to your option.

Compare placement using the garment, not the camera frame

Use the collar, centre of the body and side seams as reference points. A graphic can look off-centre when a shirt hangs at an angle or one side is folded. Ask for a straight-on view with the shirt laid flat and the whole printed area visible. If placement is particularly important, ask whether a measurement from the collar to the top of the print is available.

Confirm whether you are looking at the front or the back. Some shirts have a small chest design and a large back graphic; a gallery showing only one side does not confirm the other. Match lettering, graphic elements and colour to the saved image for your selected option.

Use close-ups for important details

Photos cannot guarantee how a print will wear after washing or how the fabric will feel. Ask for product information if these details matter to you.

A real back-print example

Black T-shirt on a red hanger with a large red V graphic on the back

Buyer arrival photo from the Vlone T-shirt delivery. The large red back graphic and much of the shirt body are visible. Fabric folds run through the design. Those folds change its appearance in the picture and should not automatically be described as cracks in the print.

This hanging view does not measure the graphic’s alignment or show the front design. It also cannot establish wash durability, fabric composition or the condition of a different order. A flat full-back photo and a close-up of the area in question would answer more specific placement or edge questions.

Fit example: compare width and length together

These hypothetical garment measurements show why matching a size letter is insufficient. If your comfortable T-shirt is 54 cm wide at the chest and 70 cm long, an option measuring 58 cm and 67 cm is wider but shorter. It may suit a different silhouette. Check shoulder width and the seller’s measurement method before assuming it is simply the next size up.

For a garment chest measurement taken flat, the width is approximately half its circumference. Keep flat widths and full circumferences separate in your notes. The garment measurement is not your body measurement.

Compare the item received for you

When warehouse photos arrive, match the design, selected colour and size label with the order. Ask for a full front or back view if the print is cropped. The warehouse photo guide explains how to request extra detail.

What to do with an unclear print

After a clearer view, compare the actual design with the selected listing. If the graphic or colour is the wrong version, describe the difference and review the return or exchange options. For care instructions, use the seller’s stated information; a photograph does not tell you whether a print can withstand a particular washing method.
